A Survey on Security Threats and Security Provisions for MANETs

ABSTRACT

Secure communication over mobile ad hoc networks is a major issue due to open network operations. Use of shared channel invites the unauthorized access to the network and intruder may join the network any time. Intruder can intercept the information and later on it can be used to interrupt the other operations. These types of attacks fall in active/passive categories. There are many solutions which can secure the outing over MANETs but each has its own limitations because of the nature of the attack and protocol behavior. In this survey paper, various attacks and their remedies will be investigated, in order to identify the latest security provisions for MANETs.
